VDPHL01 hair loss pill: investigational, not FDA-approved, and not offered by Tides
Status at a glance: VDPHL01 is an investigational drug. It is not FDA-approved, it is not available for purchase, and Tides does not offer it. If you want help with hair loss now, a Tides clinician can review your situation and decide what, if anything, from our current catalog fits.
What VDPHL01 is and where it stands
VDPHL01 is an investigational oral tablet being developed by Veradermics, Incorporated, a biopharmaceutical company focused on pattern hair loss. Veradermics describes it as a proprietary extended-release oral minoxidil formulation, designed to release minoxidil steadily over time rather than all at once.
It is in Phase 3 clinical development for pattern hair loss in men and women. On October 19, 2026, Veradermics announced results from Part A of a Phase 3 study in men (Study "304"), following an earlier Phase 2/3 study in men (Study "302") reported in April 2026. A separate study in women (Study "306") is also part of the program. These are company announcements of clinical-trial results; they are not an FDA approval.
Investigational, not FDA-approved, not offered by Tides
- Investigational means the drug is still being studied in clinical trials.
- Not FDA-approved: the FDA has not approved VDPHL01 for any use. Only the FDA can make that decision, after reviewing an application.
- Not offered by Tides: Tides does not prescribe, sell, or provide VDPHL01, and we can't get you access to it. If you're interested in trials, ClinicalTrials.gov lists studies and their recruiting status.
Oral minoxidil, explained plainly
Minoxidil has been around for decades. It was first FDA-approved as an oral tablet for high blood pressure, specifically severe hypertension that hasn't responded to other medicines. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels. Increased hair growth was noticed as a side effect, which led to topical minoxidil products for hair loss.
Using oral minoxidil tablets for hair loss is off-label, meaning it's not an FDA-approved use for those tablets. Tides does not currently prescribe oral minoxidil. At a high level, minoxidil is thought to support hair follicles partly through effects on blood flow and the hair growth cycle; the full mechanism isn't completely understood.
Oral minoxidil is a prescription medicine with serious warnings on its FDA label, and it isn't right for everyone. Whether any minoxidil product makes sense for you is a clinician's decision, made with your health history in front of them. This page doesn't give dosing guidance.
