Tides
Recovery and detox

The body's master antioxidant, restored where it works.

Glutathione-led protocols that support the body's own antioxidant and detoxification systems, alongside the mitochondrial coenzymes that recovery depends on. Personally reviewed by Dr. Rachel Deutsch, DNP.

How Dr. Rachel evaluates recovery protocols

Dr. Rachel reviews environmental exposure, training volume, medication load, alcohol metabolism, and any autoimmune-spectrum indicators. Glutathione supports liver function and the body's own antioxidant defense; pairing it with NAD+ addresses the mitochondrial side of recovery. She prescribes the combination that fits your specific pattern rather than the maximal stack.

Frequently asked

What does glutathione actually do?
Glutathione is the tripeptide the body produces to buffer oxidative load. Supplemental glutathione supports the body's own antioxidant systems, recycles vitamins C and E so they stay active, and supports liver function through phase II conjugation. Tides prescribes it as support, never as a cure.
Do I need glutathione if I take oral NAC or oral glutathione supplements?
Oral precursors like NAC have to be built into glutathione by the liver, and oral glutathione is largely broken down in the gut before absorption. Injectable reduced glutathione bypasses both bottlenecks, which is why Dr. Rachel reaches for the injectable when the goal is real serum-level restoration rather than maintenance supplementation.
Why pair glutathione with NAD+?
They cover two different lanes of recovery. Glutathione supports the antioxidant and detoxification systems (the buffering side); NAD+ supports the mitochondrial energy production that recovery physically depends on. Together they support the recovery loop end to end. Dr. Rachel prescribes the pairing when both lanes are stressed.
Can I run this alongside a GLP-1?
Yes, and it is a common pairing. As GLP-1 therapy mobilizes stored fat, the liver processes more of what it releases. Glutathione supports the liver work that shows up during that phase.
What can I NOT expect from glutathione?
Glutathione is not a treatment for liver disease and does not cleanse, detoxify, or reverse damage. It supports systems the body already runs. If you have liver impairment, Dr. Rachel will adjust the dose or route you elsewhere.
How long until I feel a difference?
Most patients notice steadier recovery, calmer skin, and fewer inflammatory flares in the 6 to 12 week range. The clinical signal that matters most, Dr. Rachel monitors on labs at the 90-day checkpoint.
